Sprite Lite was a Canada-only variety of Sprite, introduced in 1977 by Coca-Cola Ltd. of Toronto, Ontario.
Despite the launch of Sugar Free Sprite three years prior, the 1977 ban on saccharin in food products forced many bottlers to find new sweetening alternatives, or do without in the meantime. Sprite Lite was launched in mid-September 1977, said to contain six calories to the ounce.
The spelling of its name was changed to "Light" in 1978 or 1979. Despite its first logo being trademarked in the United States, it never saw distribution beyond Canada. It seems to have been silently pulled from the market around 1983.
