Seagram's is a brand of mixers sold in the United States by The Coca-Cola Company.

The Seagram Company[]

The Seagram company was founded in 1987, specializing in manufacturing alcohol.

Seagram's began to diversify from their alcohol operations, starting off by acquiring different oil companies in 1963. In 1981, they attempted to acquire 25% of Conoco, a large oil company, in 1981 though the deal for that never went through. Seagram later diversified their drink portfolio in the 1980s. In 1982, Seagram's released their line of non-alcoholic mixers. Said mixers included Ginger Ale, Tonic Water, Club Soda, and Seltzer water. They would also acquire the Tropicana juice brand years later in 1988. The company would continue to diversify in the 1990s by expending into the entertainment field by acquiring large media & entertainment businesses, including a small percentage (5.7%) of Time Warner in 1993, 80% of MCA (owners of Universal Studios, MCA Records, and Decca Records) in 1995, USA Network in 1997, and Polygram in 1998.

Downfall[]

Signs of Seagram's downfall began to show in 1999, with them reporting losses, and selling a brand of champagne that they owned known as Mumm and Perrier-Jouet.

Seagram's merged with the French holdings company Vivendi in 2000. The reason for the merger is speculated to be Seagram's selling themselves out due to them spending too much money on diversifying their business. After the merger, the Seagram name was dissolved and all of their assets were sold.

Seagram's Today[]

The mixers division of Seagram's (consisting of their Ginger Ale, Club Soda, etc.) was acquired by The Coca-Cola company in 2002, who still currently continues to manufacture and sell the drink.

Seagram's alcohol also currently continues to be manufactured and sold, though not by Coca-Cola.

Availability[]

Seagram's Mixers is currently sold in cans, bottles, and through Coca-Cola Freestyle machines throughout the United States.
