Not to be confused with Squirt.
Quirst is a former brand of Lemon-Lime soda.
History[]
Quirst was first introduced in 1978 as a division of the (at the time independent) 7 Up Company.
In 1980, the 7 Up Company was sued by Squirtco, owners of the soft drink brand Squirt, with claims that the "Quirst" name was too similar to the "Squirt" name, which infringed on their copyright and may or may not have caused confusion with consumers between the two brands.
It appears that the Quirst brand was discontinued entirely due to the lawsuit, as it hasn't been advertised since 1980, With the only mention of the drink following the lawsuit being in 1981, when the case was brought up in similar lawsuits involving copyright infringement cases that involved other food (and kitchenware) brands.
