Pepsi XL was a Pepsi cola flavor first test-marketed in Florida in five cities of the United States in 1995. After a few months of production, it got discontinued due to low sales and confusion of its name.
Description[]
Pepsi XL, as its name suggests, X stands for excellent taste, and the L stands for less sugar, cola variation of Pepsi. Its flavor was the same as regular Pepsi, much like Pepsi Edge, but had a mix of 50/50 sugar (high-fructose corn syrup) and artificial sweetener (aspartame) to balance it out.
History[]
On April 1st, 1995, PepsiCo first began to test market Pepsi XL in Florida in five cities (Miami, Tampa, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale) of the United States aimed at young adults.
This limited-time test-market release got cut short in a few months because it did not receive a great response.
