Fanta Red (previously known as "Fanta Red Cream Soda") is a flavor of Fanta, first released in 1964. It eventually discontinued in 1993, presumably due to Barq's Red Creme Soda later taking its place. In 2020, it was re-released as a soda fountain exclusive only in a Texas-based Mexican restaurant called "Rosa's Cafe Tortilla Factory."

Description[]

Fanta Red is a red crème soda flavor of Fanta. The ingredients listed for Fanta Red include carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, natural flavors, citric acid, sodium benzoate (to protect taste), and red 40. While the exact flavors used to create the Fanta Red profile may be difficult to decipher, some descriptions have compared it to the taste of a grape Lifesaver or a Barq's Red Cream Soda. There is also mention of Fanta Red being a popular drink in Thailand. However, it should be noted that taste can be subjective and may vary from person to person.

History[]

Fanta Red Cream Soda was first released in 1964 and lasted barely over 30 years of production. It was discontinued in 1993 before being re-released in 2020.

In 2020, it got re-released as a soda fountain exclusive only in a Texas-based Mexican restaurant called Rosa's Restaurant Tortilla Factory.

Trivia[]

  • Fanta Red is one of the few classic Fanta flavors released as a soda fountain exclusive after many years of being discontinued. One other flavor includes Fanta Ginger Ale.
