American Fare originated as a chain of Hypermarkets created by discounter Kmart. The first American Fare store opened in 1989, with all stores closing in 1994.
In 1995, Kmart brought back the American Fare name, as a brand of products in their discount stores, one of those products being soda. There were a few different flavors including basic cola, diet cola, lemon lime, orange, and "Dr. Rocket" (an obvious Dr Pepper imitation.)
It can only be assumed that the American Fare brand was discontinued in 2010 when it was replaced with Smart Sense.
